So, my internship is going well. They are giving me freelance jobs, which means I get payed (oh so little.) My name is also in this month's issue of the magazine! ya! Go pick it up in the book store, look up my name, and then put it back on the rack. lol. Next month's issue, Tilda Swinton (my fav and The White Witch from Narnia) is in it, and she's looking great on the cover!
My crush is turning out okay too. I'm not serious about it because he's leaving in a month, but I asked him if he wanted to go to a party Friday and he said yes, so who knows what will happen...
I'm starting to draw a lot so hopefully I'll have a portfolio set up by October and then I'm hoping to get real freelance work, which is really exciting.
Anyways, I don't know who still reads this (probably 2 ppl... you know who you are ;P), but I'm keeping this account to read other ppl's ljs. I pretty much have another blog. Email me if you don't know where that is.

I hate crushes.
I have a huge HUGE crush on this guy at my internship, and I don't know how to stop liking him.
Crushes are just a huge disappointment. Huge crushes never like me back. I don't even know if he has a girlfriend.
I mean last week we had a party through my internship and basically we hung out all night (not alone though) but people started leaving and eventually it was the two of us. There were a lot of gay men at the party and they were all hitting on him so I kept teasing him all night and eventually he goes... omg, can you please start talking about my girlfriend so this guy stops hitting on me...
So then I spent the rest of the night trying to figure out if that meant he had a gf or not.. of course I was too drunk to think of something clever like.. oh, well how's your gf going to feel about you getting hit on by gay men.

I'm not taking the job, but I have two interviews this week. One I already had with Brooklyn Digital Foundry, and another with BlackBook Magazine.
PS. All the boys are Brooklyn Foundry are in their early thirties, but boy are they HOT! I was like... omg, you're going to maybe be my boss!!???
I bet they have wives or live-in gfs. :(

This is insane. They're promoting me again at work. I've only been a cashier for like a week and now they want me to be a keyholder at another store.
So, here's my problem. I got offered a job that pays really really well, but it's a really really boring job. I wouldn't mind if it were at a design firm or some publishing company, but it's at Nielsen's as in Nielsen's Ratings the place that monitors how many people watch some stupid tv show... and it's going to be sooo boring. I don't know if I should hold out yet again and go for an internship somewhere better. The thing is... I might not even get an internship anywhere better and it took me this long to get this boring job.
I have to let them know by Monday... and this is driving me crazy.
PROS: money, security, being able to buy stuff, probably being able to afford an apartment with a living room without roommates!
CONS: BORING. BORING. Is this going to lead me to a better more creative job a year down the line?
What should I do? |

I don't know if you watched the last season of Project Runway, but omg. I was at work, and I saw Christian Siriano (so fierce!) walk into the store!!! LOL. I was like.... that dude looks like that dude on PR. It couldn't be... and it was! I even said, "Hey, how are you guys doing? You finding everything alright?"....... well, they said yes. I don't think I would have recognized him if he didn't have his glasses and uh... crazy hair done up. Also, he is sooo short in real life. Like my height or shorter. Yeah, I'm excited cause I never run into celebs in NYC unless I stalk them. So yeah, he was with an especially gay and especially tall male friend and he purchased four multicolored women's shirts... I think size small. lol at me picturing him wearing them. Sorry I am lame.

saw a very cute guy today at work. oh, he had sandy blonde/brown hair, nice eyes, and a sweet smile. he asked me if the pants he were trying on looked good on him. i couldn't help but giggle because in my head i was saying, "yeah, but they'd look better on the floor next to your boxers."

so i finally got a job... in retail. i got a job working at american apparel, but i can't believe i turned down a couple $35k design jobs to work in a low paying retail job, but those jobs were really kind of boring and on the production side of design. on paper, i guess it really doesn't make sense, but i really wanted to intern with this studio... so working in retail means i get to have tuesdays off to intern... and this was the best way to do it.
i guess the worst part is telling people what kind of job i'm ending up with since i made such a big deal about working in design... but in the long run this internship will help me get a better job instead of just production assistant designer... hopefully, or not.
so i am officially a retail associate at least until the summer or past the summer... then i'll probably end up with a production assistant designer job. full circle.
it really does suck that now that i've accepted this job.. i'm suddenly getting all these phone calls for interviews... i'm like... wtf, where were you guys three weeks ago? |

So this is week two that I've been trying to find a new job. So far feeling pretty disappointed. I must have sent out my resume to over 30 places and I've only heard from one place which was Random House. I went to the interview and the art director seemed to love me. He kept me there for about two hours. Needless to say, I didn't get the job. I know I'm just starting out, and I have no right to feel disappointed yet... but I didn't think it would be this hard. I must be doing something wrong, but I'm not sure what. |

Pretty much Black Friday was awesome. AWESOME.
I got a 2GB SD card for my camera for 6 bucks, 500 GB external hard drive for $80, and ..... I cracked, I got the DS Zelda edition that comes with game and Circuit City gift card all for 139.99...
